I had two days off and was supposed to be finishing up something I wanted to post today, but instead I watched episode after episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix.

So here are a few highlights from the last two days:

  • If anyone caught the US-Ghana World Cup game, they saw what a crap display of soccer the US team put on. Ghana played well though and made the game somewhat interesting. However, my favorite part of the game took place off of the field. After scoring the first goal, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan performed the most amazing victory dance ever:
  • After this game I was invited to a pool party in Greenpoint. I expected a rinky-dink backyard with a kiddie pool from Target, but when we entered the backyard I thought we had entered a time warp and emerged in an early 90’s episode of MTV’s The Grind: Spring Break Edition. It was freaking awesome. It ended on a sour note when a dirty hipster performed a flying kick to the door of the port-o-potty I was in because he thought I cut him and his cunty girlfriend in line, even though I had been standing in front of them for like 10 min. To be fair, he was wearing sunglasses that block black people from his field of vision, so he’s not really to blame. And I certainly wont shank him if I ever happen to run into him in a dark alley. That would be unladylike.
  • Lastly, you may not know this, but I am a killer. A plant killer. In the past two months, two of my three house plants have gone to the great mulch pile in the sky.

    It never stood a chance.

    Brownthumb strikes again.

Now, these plants join several others I’ve offed along the way, but I thought things were going so well!
There is one more plant, and last week it looked as if it was on it’s last leaves as well. It was completely drooped over to one side and looked ready to join it’s plant brethren who would rather die than live with me. But…

I'll kill you before you kill me, Shauna.

it’s still alive! after I had written it off, it made a miraculous recovery. There are even a bunch of baby leaves growing! Hopefully, it will survive and I can stop feeling like I will kill any living creature that I may have to take care of.

Just chillin' on a fence and shit...

Today I was G-chatting with my childhood friend Sana (far right in pic above). We started reminiscing about the old days, and she told me she was at her mom’s house and had found some old pictures that would make me laugh. She scanned them and emailed them to me, and they’re super awesome!

As you can see from the pictures (circa fourth and fifth grade), I was a big dork. That multicolor atrocity of a shirt in the picture above was my favorite. The one in the picture below was up there in the rankings, too. I thought my hot pink glasses were the hotness as well. In my downtime, I enjoyed (among other things): collecting bugs and rocks, roller skating backwards, and writing romance stories involving myself and Keanu Reeves.

When I look back at being a dork, I usually think of the negative aspects, but these pictures (yes, there were more, but I can’t put all my embarrassing pics –*ahem, Whoopi Goldberg Hair*– on the Internet) reminded me that it was also a lot of fun.

This style is called the "Urban Flock of Seagulls."

On my way to work this morning I saw a guy in a wheelchair making his way down the street. As he got closer to me, I observed that he was youngish, and that both of his legs had been removed from the shin down. My first thought was “That’s terrible, the poor guy.” My second thought was ” I wonder if he’s ever had stump sex?”

Come on, you know you would be curious, too!
